The remake looks to faithfully recreate the original’s narrative and story beats, and the changes that are being made are evidently significant. And the story? Hella great! Good guys like Luis, Ashley, Hunnigan, and Leon himself have seen major updates to their character. Every individual fight feels raw & intense, it’s such a **** FUN game. Or when I perfect parried an attack, which grants a melee opportunity, kicked the ganado onto a wall, and then ran up and stabbed his neck. Shooting a ganado in the head, hearing the phrase “Detrás de ti, imbécil,” and quickly turning around into a parry has to be one of the coolest memories. And c’mon - parrying?! This mechanic alone accounts for 7/10 points for the game, it is literally perfect. It still keeps the headshot into roundhouse kick gameplay loop, but with a fluid animation that seams perfectly back into fast & epic gameplay, it NEVER grows as repetitive as it does in OG RE4. The minimum hardware list includes the humble RX 560 and GTX 1050 Ti as graphics card options, along with relatively aged processors. By 2023 standards, Resident Evil 4’s PC specs are pretty reasonable. It’s literally gotten rid of everything that I didn’t like about the original RE4, and also update things that didn’t necessarily make sense in the OG (like the annoying bug enemies going invisble, now they’re only capable of camouflage.)
